Okay,
I just got done telling my Corp. Mates how to defend against Mass Drivers, it's really not THAT hard. Goat, i'm assuming your really really good with a Mass Driver so you may have forgotten how hard they are to aim.
These are weapons that are difficult to aim in almost every situation. They are mainly used as suppression weapons and require you to unload about a fifth of your total capacity into an enemy to kill them unless you get lucky enough to land a body shot.
I may regret this but... Positioning is KEY when using and defending against Mass Drivers. If your parallel to a Mass Driver your in a neutral zone. Never be in a position where a Mass Driver is above you, that's how i get all my kills. Also Mass Drivers have Bullet travel time, a trait not shared with most other weapons in DUST 514 at Mid Range it's pretty difficult to get a shot off.
My advice, if your facing against a Mass Driver (at range), Start moving directly backwards (it's easier to hit a target heading forward than one backing up) and wait for the MD to fire. He has to aim at where your going and if your moving straight back he needs to fire straight, that's when you move to the left, when he fires at you again watch for it, and then move the opposite direction.
Fighting on a Slope is not good for mass drivers so if you see an Mass Driver parallel to you on a hill you have the upperhand
ABOVE ALL, Mass Drivers cannot aim straight up very well, if your in a position above a Mass Driver user then all they can do is aim right at the edge of the building or mound and hope for a spalsh shot. Which usually ends up not happening for them.
Mass Drivers are NOT easy weapons to use and require the user to be VERY mindful of his situation and surroundings. If you are being killed by a Mass Driver then your doing something wrong. again summery
-Never fight in close range unless you have an HMG, Shotgun, Mass Driver, Nova Knifes, Grenades, or excellent Assault Rifle hip-fire ability.
-Never fight at mid-close range on an open field.
-Don't use short strafes, and don't strafe in one direction because it's easy to adjust for.
-Never let a Mass Driver be above you.
-If a Mass Driver is above you, do not engage.
-If you are pinned behind cover, wait for the first shot to hit cover and then move, cover, move, cover, move. All Mass Drivers have a slow RoF.
THE MASS DRIVER IS NOT OP.
Keep the faith. |
